Hello, and welcome back to Monday Escapes, and a very big Happy Easter to you all!
There is a slight delay to this week’s post, so please accept my apologies. A mixture of jetlag and Easter hosting duties have put me slightly out of sync with what day it is!
I have spent the last few weeks visiting New Jersey, Philadelphia and New York, solo parenting for most of the time. My husband was there for a work trip so we decided to join him, as I didn’t fancy staying at home for two weeks during the school holidays without him!
It meant, however, that I had to look after and entertain the kids on my own each day, which I was slightly worried about, especially in busy New York, but they were actually all brilliant (most of the time!) and we had a great trip!
We started our trip with a visit to Asbury Park, New Jersey, which I fell in love with. A real old-school beach resort town, making a cool comeback.
We then headed to Philadelphia, which I admittedly had low expectations for, but ended up loving the beautiful blossom tree lined streets, and the Rocky steps of course!
We then spent the rest of the time in New York, a city that I love. As we had been before (it’s my daughter’s fourth visit and she’s not even 4yrs old!), and because I wanted to stick to a budget, we avoided the major tourist attractions and stuck to visits to parks, boat trips and visiting cafes etc. It was so successful, a brilliant approach I think.
